Ban On Okada Real, Delta Police Give Stern Warning

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police, Bright Edafe, affirmed the veracity of the prohibition on motorcycles, colloquially known as Okada. Edafe cautioned Okada operators to securely store their vehicles, noting that any impounded bikes would face destruction as per the directive from the Delta State Government.

Edafe conveyed this message through his social media account, emphasizing the gravity of the ban and advising owners to safeguard their bikes accordingly. He stressed his inability to intervene once a bike is seized, reiterating the government's mandate to crush all impounded motorcycles.

The Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, disclosed the decision during a press briefing in Asaba following the State Council Meeting chaired by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on May 24. Emu cited the surge in criminal activities involving Okada and the prevalent incidents of vandalism as reasons for the ban, announcing stringent enforcement starting from Saturday, June 1.
