Delta Man Fakes Kidnap, Demand Huge Amount Of Money From Parent

 

The Delta State Police Command nabbed suspected self-kidnapper, Nelson Eserada, and his accomplice, Jerry Lawrence, as revealed by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, during an interview with PUNCH Metro in Asaba.

According to Edafe, Eserada and Lawrence contacted Eserada’s parent, demanding a ransom of N50 million. The distressed father reported the situation to the Abraka Division, prompting swift action led by DPO SP Fabian Ayameh.

Upon investigation, Jerry Lawrence of Jeddo Community, Warri, was apprehended on June 10, 2024, in connection with the crime. Initial findings unveiled a conspiracy between Lawrence and Eserada, a 400 Level Student of Banking & Finance at Delta State University Abraka. Moreover, it was discovered that the father had already paid N5.2 million ransom through a Bitcoin account linked to Lawrence.

Both suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue. In addition to this case, the command has apprehended eight suspected armed robbers operating in Asaba.

The arrest came after numerous reports of house-to-house armed robberies in Bonsaac, Okwe, and surrounding areas. CP Abaniwonda Olufemi deployed a new DPO to ‘B’ division Asaba with a mandate to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Acting on credible information, the DPO, CSP Edewor Akponegware, led patrol teams to Mango Tree Market, where they arrested John Dalami, Musa Suleiman, Abdullahi Jibril, Solomon Uchechukwu, Yusuf Joda, Egboka Chukwu Charles, and Wisdom Sylvester. A search at the scene yielded a Bagco bag containing a locally made cut-to-size gun and a live cartridge.

Further interrogation and confessions led the special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime squad to the suspects' hideout behind DDPA estate Asaba. Six additional suspects were apprehended, and three locally made cut-to-size guns were recovered from the location.
