Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association Advises Against Nationwide Protest

The Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association (SKCLA) has cautioned youths against participating in the planned nationwide protest, citing concerns that it may be hijacked by adversaries seeking to create chaos. Instead, the association is urging for a period of healing and reconciliation after the recent attacks in the region.

The chairman of the association, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Nuhu Kure, made this call during a special Thanksgiving service for elected and appointed officers from Southern Kaduna, which was held on Sunday in Kafanchan. The event was organized in collaboration with the Christian Association of Nigeria, Southern Kaduna Zone.

Kure argued that while the region is facing economic challenges and hunger, it is crucial to give the government more time to address the decay caused by past administrations. He also expressed hope that the current government is making progress in offering hope and inclusivity through appointments and project execution.

The Vice Chairman of SKCLA, Most Rev. Julius Yakubu Kundi, emphasized the importance of unity among elected and appointed officials, urging them to align their goals and aspirations with the objectives of modern-day politics. He noted that disunity among the political elite is detrimental to the growth of their people.

The guest speaker, Reverend Dr. Job Ayuba Bagat Mallam, encouraged elected and appointed officers to be faithful in their duties, take their work seriously, and work towards giving the people of Southern Kaduna a new lease on life.

In response to the appeal, Mr. Amos Gwamna Magaji, representing Zango-Kataf/Jaba Constituency at the House of Representatives, thanked SKCLA for organizing the event and emphasized that it has strengthened their relationship as elected and appointed representatives from one zone. He also appealed to the people not to participate in the planned protest, citing concerns about potential unpleasant consequences if it is hijacked by hoodlums.

The SKCLA's advice comes as tensions continue to rise across Nigeria, with many citizens protesting against economic hardship and government policies. However, the association's leaders believe that a period of healing and reconciliation is necessary before such actions can be taken.
